It's really about prejudice. There is 1/2 the immigration than there was a century ago. The immigrants take work other people won't do, serving a critical place in our economic and social system. The whining about them not paying income tax is insignificant, their salaries are so low they wouldn't pay income tax. They do pay sales tax, real estate tax is paid where they live. They don't get social security or most other benefits.
