A look at hurricane aid for Louisiana By The Associated Press Fri Aug 25

Louisiana officials expect to receive at least $25 billion in federal aid to rebuild areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina, but little of the money has arrived yet. Here's a look at where state officials expect to spend it:

· $8.1 billion for repairs or buyouts of significantly damaged homes

· $6 billion for levee repairs

· $6 billion to $8 billion for repair of public buildings and other structures

· $3.5 billion for projects to prevent future damage

· $697 million for highway funding

· $550 million for replacement of Veterans Affairs hospital in New Orleans

· $200 million for repair of the Louisiana National Guard barracks in New Orleans

Is it Republican's fault they didn't fix a democrat mess? New Orleans and Lousania are run by Democrats. It's their own damn fault.

Katrina is the poster child for how Republicans are unable to lead this country and why they should be replaced. Thousands of Americans died during Katrina while Bush partied at his ranch.

If you check, you will find that this is money promised to New Orleans by the Republican Federal Government that hasn't been delivered yet....another promise broken.

If you have a problem with how much money of YOUR tax money has been promised, go whine to your Republican handlers....they are the ones making the promises and then breaking them.

If you have a problem with how the FEMA money is being distributed and spent, then again go talk to your inept Republican clowns who are the ones handing out YOUR tax money.

Louisiana political corruption is legendary.

Louisiana cut some deals in Congress that not only gave them control of actual construction, but also reduced Corps inspections of building sites. The levees were not built as designed. By the time the pols and contractors took the cream, they had to cut corners to get it finished.
