Interview with Senator Jeff Sessions (R-ALA)

Today on the Lou Dobbs Newshour (CNN), Senator Sessions who has been the eyes and ears and champion of the American people over the past months regarding Senate Bill 2611 has now stepped up with the results of his research on the Pence-Hutchison compromise Bill. In addition, included are comments he made regarding immigration to this country in general and how it should be fixed.

Regarding the Pence-Hutchison compromise Bill:

'This bill will allow for a virtually unlimited number of immigrants to come into the United States.'

'The Bill favors low-skilled workers.'

'It provides for preference to the eight NAFTA and CAFTA countries over the rest of the world.'

'The Bill gives no preference for English language or employment skills that help make immigrants successful in our economy.'

Further statement of Senator Sessions:

'We need a comprehensive reform. I really believe that we need to throw out this system and develop a new system of immigration that serves America's national interest as a nation and that includes accepting people who have higher skills; it includes allowing people to apply and wait in line based on merit. We are not doing that. It should reject something like this plan and almost every other plan that says it allows temporary workers that get to bring their families, get to extend, extend, extend 12 - 15 - 17 years. By then nobody can ask those people to leave

I am in favor of a biometric identifier, provided that it is part of a national ID system and *everybody* in the country has to carry it.

In the days after September 11 there was much hope to adopt such national ID. Larry Ellison (founder of Oracle) and others were busy lobbying to get the contract for a database with the names and IDs of all Americans. Microsoft of course didn't need to apply with their crappy and shameful software.

There is no way an ID only for immigrant workers only will get support, as it would be the same as carrying a yellow star on your sleeve (*).

Askenazi peddlers had to wear an official RED badge during the Middle Ages to identify them as travelling merchants and not enemy aliens or bandits.

Are you suggesting that Jews snuck illegally into Germany during Hitler's reign for a better life or for work in Aushwitz or Buchenwald? What an insane analogy. How could you compare Jews in Europe trying to flee from the Holocaust with Mexicans or other foreigners trying to sneak illegally into the United States for jobs? I would think that survivors of the death camps in Poland and Germany and their descendents would be insulted and outraged to have themselves and their loved ones who died in the death camps equated with migrant farm workers from Mexico coming to El Norte of their own volition to pick produce or fruit.
