Overcoming People’s Fear Of Chnage

I’ve come to understand that conservatism is a very irrational phenomenon. As I see it there is only sense in conserving something if it is already functioning, successful and balanced. Otherwise what the point in conserving?

Most people are not seeing things as I do, for them conservations is what we do to prevent things from deteriorating. There is always a way to reach some of the people who’s reasons for conservatism is fear and distrust.

Sure as digby said most evangelical audience cheered McCain on every single word and sure that conservatism is a worldview but there is a way to gain the support of many people that define themselves as Conservatives and it through getting their trust.

In order to win Obama needs to have supporters from various social groups so trust that changes can be done and trust that he can do it without collapsing their world but rather improving it can be crucial.

Questionable Donations For McCains?

I know it is quite silly and probably took lots of work to create but I find the video really funny so I thought to link to it from here too.

I think we would hear much more of the contributions and donors manipulation for the campaigns of McCain and Crist. From the post on Easter Lemming blog it is clear that there is more to investigate on the whole story of the donations that appears to arrive from persons who never gave them.

This is probably the old trick of covering large sums of donations from a single not so “kosher” donor by dividing it to many small donors that are not raising suspicion.

Is The Republican Campaigns Smarter Than Obama’s

Already the last polls indicate that 50% of the undecided feel that Obama’s media exposure is too much. It is not just the world tour it is the deliberate attempts of McCain advisers to focus on Obama’s personality rather than say anything meaningful.

I have the feeling that they’ve found the weak point and am going to keep exploiting it as far as possible. Not that I have any criticism about Obama’s personally and in fact all they are doing is trying to ridicule him so no one would take what he says seriously.

How can you answer in any sort of intelligent manner the attempts to create an image of someone that doesn’t know what he is saying and should be laughed at no matter what he says.

It is like the sort of attacks that children use at schools and else where to kill the social lives of a child. I must agree with driftglass they are not interested to discuss policies as this would open the way to really allowing Obama to be heard.

I hope that the sanity would prevail and such tactics would expose McCain and Co. as the bullies that they are. They use the classic bullies tactics now I hope I won’t have to have them at the White House.

Still the question remains how can we turn the process around back to some sort of serious discussion.

How Low Will They Get

I don’t really think McCain campaign is waiting for my advice but if they were I would be happy to tell them that they might have gone too far for their own good this time.

Most of their voters are church going people or at least believers and I don’t think they would love the mockery of the Messiah image or the implications that Obama tries to play this role. Check Discourse.net for an interesting discussion about the video.

Obama looks good and sounds confident and it makes his appear a little arrogant at times, it can be a good thing to have this kind of charisma when you for the presidency but it can also be the focus of the opponent’s attacks as it is happening now.

Fighting Terror, Force Is Not The Answer

This is really a great timing for the Rand report on fighting terrorism.

What some sane people were saying for years finally get support from a research that on one can blame to be influenced by liberalism.

From The Herald Tribune

“Terrorists should be perceived and described as criminals, not holy warriors, and our analysis suggests there is no battlefield solution to terrorism,” said Seth Jones, the lead author of the study and a Rand political scientist.

I can just join my fellow bloggers from Just An Earth Bound Misfit and Alternate Brian saying that no only Bush is doing it wrong but McCain plans to continue doing it wrong.

The best war against terrorism is policy and not the massive Bush-McCain attack strategies so can we be wise or are we just too used to bulling and showing our muscles?

The kind of thinking that is needed to dismantle terror is too subtle for both of them.

Let’s hope that Obama will be the one deciding policies after November since there are no other possibilities for wise policy making.
