These Primaries have been very tension filled, but thankfully we can release a bit of the tension with the help of comedians.

Now that it is clear that Hillary is out of the race, she will probably pledge her support to Barak Obama.

It will be, in my opinion a loss not to have her as a force in Democratic team and am in agreement with Alegre from the the Democratic Daily Who brings new of a new petition in circulation - to nominate Hillary as VP.

Alegre says

VoteBoth.com. I signed the petition, just in case this is something Hillary wants to pursue. I don’t claim to know what she wants - but if she thinks she can make a difference in our lives by trying to bring together our party as the VP then I’m all for it. I trust her and I’m guessing you all do to. Check it out and figure it out for yourselves, but I thought I’d throw this out there for anyone who might be interested in supporting this notion.

I have not signed the petition yet, however. I want to give it a couple of days to sense the energy between Obama and Clinton - as much as I want Clinton in the white house I am not sure it would be a good Idea if they can’t put the passed behind them and work as a team.

This is a little off topic, and a little not…. it is very funny either way and now is about the right time for a good laugh. and then for some deep and serious thinking…

The latest  slip of words that Obama is having to deal with, is confusing Buchenwald with Auschwitz.

Glenn Sacks says (and I quote in full due to the wisdom of his words)

The latest stupid petty controversy in the presidential primaries/election is people being “outraged”–and the Republicans demanding an explanation–for Senator Obama confusing Auschwitz with Buchenwald in a recent speech. According to the Associated Press’ Obama mistaken on name of Nazi death camp (5/28/08):

“The Barack Obama campaign said Tuesday the candidate mistakenly referred to the wrong Nazi death camp when relating the story of a great uncle who helped liberate the camps in World War II.

“The Democratic presidential candidate said the story is accurate except that the camp was Buchenwald, not Auschwitz…

“Obama’s mistaken mention of the camp on Monday quickly generated Internet chatter, ranging from puzzlement to outrage. The Republican Party demanded an explanation.

“‘It was Soviet troops that liberated Auschwitz, so unless his uncle was serving in the Red Army, there’s no way Obama’s statement yesterday can be true,’ said Alex Conant, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee.”

So Obama–who must be so tired from the endless, endless, endless campaigning that he can probably barely see straight–confused the names of two concentration camps. Big deal–most Americans couldn’t even name two concentration camps.

But the real significance of the gaffe is this–”‘It was Soviet troops that liberated Auschwitz, so unless his uncle was serving in the Red Army, there’s no way Obama’s statement yesterday can be true,’ said Alex Conant, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee.”

An ironic comment, to say the least. American conservatives have spent the last 60 years pretending it was the US and Britain who defeated Nazi Germany, when the vast majority of Nazi Germany’s casualties occurred on the eastern front, against the USSR. When celebrating the 40th anniversary of D-Day in 1984, then-president Ronald Reagan read General Eisenhower’s announcement for the day and deliberately omitted Eisenhower’s reference to America’s Soviet allies.

The first president to properly acknowledge the Soviet role–the leading Soviet role–was Clinton, not because he was more honest but because the Cold War was over so we could stop the stupid charade.

I could not agree more. Which of those terrible camps grandfather Obama liberated is not really of essence to the campaign.

There is a difference between making a mistake that is a simple confusion to one (like MacCain makes repeatedly see here)

Not a whole lot more can be added in the face of this incompetency, and inconsistency - I know none of you planned to vote for the man, but please show this to as many as possible people - make sure no one does.
