Hezbollah's real goal in Lebanon is to overthrow the government there and establish an Islamic State.

Israels attacks should destroy what little government Lebanon DID have - leaving Hizbollah the most powerful entity. They'll have their islamic state.

Makes me think of the Jerry Seinfeld episode where Jerry's uncle is telling him, in an accusatory tone, that a neighbor is an anti-Semite, to which Jerry looks his Jewish relative up and down, then says, 'Do you blame him? You're disgusting!'

Only if the USA decides it's better to appease evil ... like they did with that silly first UN resolution. Europe has already shown itself to be cowardly in the face of evil.

Actually it's the United States who is cowardly in the face of Israel.

... sets womans rights back 200 years.

... reveals Bush's 'democracy' agenda, and foreign policy in general, to be toilet flush.

... Lebanon is only 1/3 Islamic, the other 2/3's would probably enter a civil war.

So? It's not our business how other countries treat their populations when those populations choose. Israel is a theocracy as are most of the nations in that region. Mexico is technically a theocracy since they have a state religion. Fundamentalist Christians of the Pat Robertson stripe (now there's somebody God needs to take away) would have the US become a theocracy as well. Apparently such people don't bother to read any history or they'd realize that theocratic governments are incompatible with peace.

That describes America for the last 100+ years.

40% last statistic I saw. The problem is, theocracy is the coming thing. The region is dominated by theocracies and you can't have a theocracy unless the population is entirely dominated by one religion. I'm talking 75% minimum. What's left is for Lebanon to become an entirely secular state and the Muslim states in the region would have a hard time swallowing that.
