According to Mary L. Dudziak from the Balkinization-blog Barak Obama has announced a plan to stimulate the economy by creating 2.5 million jobs over the next two years. According to Mary L. Dudziak from the Balkinization-blog over 1000 historians have sent a letter to President-Elect Barack Obama, urging him to keep gender equity in mind, particularly in light of the way women were often left out.
A bipartisan group of legislators including Democrat Roger Bruce and Republican John Lunsford introduced a bill called the “Parent Protection Act.”
The Parent Protection Act is a bi-partisan bill that would provide up to 24 hours of unpaid, job-protected leave per year to attend a child’s school conferences, or; for the employee’s own medical appointments, or to take a child, parent or spouse to medical appointments.
According to Andre from the Georgia Politics Unfiltered-blog:
State Rep. Roger Bruce has pre-filed the Parent Protection Act for the upcoming 2009 legislative session. Hopefully, the legislation will be met with more favorable consideration this time around.
Milorad “Rod” R. Blagojevich is an American politician from the state of Illinois. A Democrat, Blagojevich currently serves as governor of Illinois and previously represented parts of Chicago in the U.S. Congress. He is the second Serbian American to be elected governor of any state of the United States, after George Voinovich of Ohio.
On December 9, 2008, Blagojevich was arrested by FBI agents and charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud as well as solicitation of bribery. The Justice Department complaint alleges that the governor conspired to commit several “pay to play” schemes, including attempting to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s vacated United States Senate seat to the highest bidder.
Daniel from the Kentucky democrat-blog writes on the continuing saga of Rod Blagojevich:
Guerrero said Blagojevich is back at work in the James R. Thompson Center and has met with staff to discuss the state budget and short term loans to help alleviate some of the state’s money pressures.
This reminds me, if Springfield is the capital of Illinois, why does it feel like everything happens in Chicago? Maybe they should move the capitol here as well?
Another bloger Josh from the Joshing Politics-blog posted a video of Barack Obama calling Blagojevich to resign. Josh writes:
While there are bad apples on both sides, at least here on the left we try to clean up as soon as we find the spoilage.
Mark P. Begich (born March 31, 1962) is the junior United States Senator-elect from Alaska and the current mayor of Anchorage. A member of the Democratic Party, he served on the Anchorage Assembly for ten years before being elected mayor in 2003.
Ted Stevens, the longest serving Republican in Senate history, narrowly lost his re-election bid Tuesday, marking the downfall of a Washington political power and Alaska icon who couldn’t survive a conviction on federal corruption charges. His defeat by Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich moves Senate Democrats within two seats of a filibuster-proof 60-vote majority.
As Zak Johnson from the blue steel democrats-blog writes:
But Begich’s win is also a huge win for gun owners. Begich joins the growing ranks of Democratic congressmen and senators (not to mention state and local officials) with strong pro-2nd Amendment records. Among Begich’s other credentials are his “A” rating from the NRA.

Congratulations to Barak Obama on being elected to be presented, All of you democratic voters give your self around of applause.
