I'm all for controlling the border and ejecting people who have no right to live or work in our country. But I also ask questions. Sometimes they are questions I don't want to ask but I ask them anyway because I respect truth. Asking the right question is far more important to finding the truth than constructing a 'correct' answer according to one's ideological predisposition.

The question is, what do these people have in common ? Can you guess ? The answer as at the end of the list, for any particularly dim-witted Bushhead who can't figure it out.

Actually the list might include Pfc. Sheldon R. Hawk Eagle, who has an excellent claim to being placed among the REAL REAL American.

Bingo ! Give that man a fine Havana !

Are America and Mexico really two distinct countries in the way that some Americans like to believe ? We share alot of history, over 300 years of it, for good or ill. Can Mexicans and other Hispanic groups really be called 'aliens', like they are from another planet ? I don't think so.

In Vietnam, many white Americans from the southern states had to deal with blacks on equal terms for the first time in their lives. One might think that there would be a lot of racial hostility between the two groups, southern whites and blacks. Hell no ! Except for some hopelessly racist idiots ( both white and black ), the color of your blood was all that mattered in combat. Something like that is probably going on in Iraq right now.

I wonder what the discussions 'around the campfires' about immigration are like in Iraq ?

They all have Hispanic name of some sort, as near as I could tell. I managed to filter out at least half a dozen Philippines with Hispanic names, usually from their pictures. There were a surprising number of Spaniards on the list whose names I left out. I may have included some Italian names, though I kept a vigilant eye out and tried to do my best.

I included Puerto Ricans and a 'PR' after their names, in part because if they don't count as Americans then what are they. But I included them

Yes. Two different cultures. Maybe Canada, but not Mexico.

Can Mexicans and other Hispanic groups really be

Don't be ignorant. Get a dictionary. 'Alien''s original meaning is being used here, not the relatively new meaning of ET.

Go to any of the states bordering Mexico and what do you see. Old missions from the 18th century, Spanish-style homes, historical monuments to Miguel Whoever who founded Whatever in 1837. You'll meet people named 'Martinez' whose great grandfather didn't speak Spanish. And on and on.

I used to get sent to Miami by my masters in the late 70s, early 80s and you know what I saw everywhere I went ? Stores with signs saying 'We Speak English'. That was 25 years ago.

I don't miss the code words and I doubt if you do either.
